Meet David

David Gallegos has served as a steady, unifying voice for New Mexico’s constitutional freedoms in the State Senate since 2020. He is known for working respectfully, building relationships, and standing firm on the principles that matter to families, communities, and taxpayers. He will bring that same approach to the Lieutenant Governor’s office.
David has also spent decades serving his community. He served 26 years on the Eunice School Board, helping guide local schools and support students, parents, and teachers. His long record of service reflects a deep belief that strong communities begin with strong families and local institutions.
Before entering public office, David spent 30 years in the natural gas industry, where he learned firsthand how state and federal policies affect workers, small businesses, and the energy economy. He is now a manager in his family’s construction company.
David has been married to his wife, Sonya, for 46 years. They have two daughters and one granddaughter, and remain deeply rooted in the community they love.
